MY STORY
My career has been predominantly in Musical Theatre and I’ve been fortunate to perform in many wonderful West End shows including Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita, South Pacific, Fame, Mamma Mia and Acorn Antiques, to name a few.
I’m Lorraine Chappell, a qualified celebrant specialising in funerals and weddings. Before I became a mother to my children, I had attended both the Arts Educational and Royal Ballet School. A chance audition for The Phantom of the Opera when I was 18, opened the door to musical theatre where I thrived as an actor, singer and dancer for over 20 years, starring in West End and International Tour productions of Mamma Mia, The Secret Garden, Acorn Antiques, Cats and Evita to name a few. I am the Artistic Director and Head Teacher of Mini Molesey Theatre Club and Creative & Musical Director of the Molesing Ladies Choir.
I have a life time of experience working as part of a team, bringing people’s stories to life, directing large groups while producing live events, so becoming a celebrant was a natural progression for me and one that brings me so much joy and happiness.
Whether yours is a commemoration of a lost loved one’s life and achievements, the celebration of unity and commitment for a life partnership, or welcoming a new life to this world, I will be there, not just to conduct your ceremony and make your occasion everything you deserve but to offer support and guidance in the days and weeks before.
My approach
Working with people and story telling is my passion. I believe these are two vitally important skills to possess as a celebrant. Becoming a celebrant seemed like the most obvious and natural career choice for me. The opportunity to meet with families, listen to their stories and to have the honour to relay them with compassion, empathy, humour and humility to friends and family is a truly humbling and wonderful experience.
